Prime Plc is a specialist health and care property developer headquartered at The Triangle in Worcester, UK.

Prime is committed to achieving far-reaching sustainability goals, including carbon neutrality and biodiversity improvements. To this end, work commenced to improve Prime HQ’s energy efficiency and sustainability.

These building improvements include a mechanical ventilation heat recovery system, VRF air conditioning system with heat recovery, new glazed doors, upgraded power distribution, suspended ceilings, archive storage facilities, and redecoration of all rooms.

Thorlux Lighting was engaged to supply high-efficiency LED luminaires and self-test emergency lighting. Using Platform 1 of the SmartScan lighting management system, the luminaires operate on a stand-alone basis, wirelessly linked in groups for presence detection and scene setting. The renovation uses Hi-Style recessed luminaires throughout the open-plan offices, with Flexbeam suspended acoustic fittings and Kast wall-mounted luminaires used to striking effect in the reception area.

Following the initial upgrade of the building’s first floor in 2021, the ground floor renovation followed in 2023. Prime anticipates that, in total, the building refurbishment (including the new lighting system and all other improvements) will save around 40 MWh of energy and provide a reduction of CO₂ equivalent emissions totalling approximately 11 metric tonnes each year.
