The Challenge
MOL Logistics had an outdated lighting system in its logistics halls. The MOL Group has active sustainability policies, so a new lighting solution in line with the parent group's green ambitions was needed.
In addition, the new lighting system needed to be adaptable; in the event of changes to the warehouse layout, the luminaires must be easy to move and re-install.
The Solution
MOL Logistics selected Thorlux Lighting to provide modern and energy-efficient Visio high-bay LED luminaires with the innovative SmartScan lighting management system. With its new lighting system, MOL Logistics has achieved significant energy savings and improved safety in its halls.
With a high volume of indoor motorised traffic, the Visio luminaires' high light output helps ensure safety for drivers and pedestrians. Visio's long lifespan keeps the requirement for onsite maintenance to a minimum.
One advantage of these more efficient luminaires is that fewer units are needed to achieve the required lighting levels. In this instance, 350 Visio luminaires with wide beam optics have replaced approximately 1,200 original fixtures, delivering an equivalent illumination level. Furthermore, Visio luminaires are easy to install, enabling MOL Logistics to change the layout of its halls and rehang the luminaires to suit the new scheme.
The luminaires communicate wirelessly via the SmartScan mesh network. Site managers can view real-time information online about the lighting system's operational status and energy consumption.
