Campus Supermarket

The on-campus Co-Op franchise supermarket at the University of Warwick provides students, staff, and visitors with fresh produce, essential groceries, and a wide selection of favourite foods. The store also houses a small Post Office station.

Thorlux was asked to propose a new lighting design for the store to maximise energy efficiency while providing comfortable, attractive lighting for shoppers. Thorlux proposed suspended Zipline Eco linear luminaires for this application. Broad-beam Zipline Eco modules were used to ensure consistent vertical illumination on the product display shelves. Zipline Eco is a highly versatile, easily adjustable continuous LED system; the ability to alter the lighting arrangement with ease if the store layout changed was important to managers.

To provide essential safety lighting, Firefly emergency luminaires with area and corridor distribution have been installed throughout the store, with Lexi-65 exit signs highlighting escape points. The wireless SmartScan lighting management system controls the supermarket lighting.
